TRIBE Team Training brings together the best of personal training and group exercise

by Kathryn Korchok

Who:
Sue Richard and Haagon East co-founded TRIBE Team Training (www.tribeteamtraining.com) in New Zealand in 2012. As club owners and former executives with an international fitness organization, the couple recognized that combining sports team coaching with personal training could provide an opportunity for tremendous growth in their own business and for club owners everywhere.

J.P. Richard (Sue Richard’s brother) is the president and director of marketing and sales for TRIBE Team Training (TTT) North America. After seeing the success of TRIBE Team Training in New Zealand, J.P. saw an opportunity for the North American market.

“I recognized that clubs in general were only realizing a fraction of the potential revenue, retention and culture that this type of department could have,” says J.P., a business executive who has studied, advised and consulted with fitness clubs worldwide.

pic5Fitter International brings the Core-Tex to Canada

Fitter International Inc (Fitter) & Reactive Training, LLC, announced today further expansion into fitness clubs and physical therapy facilities, bringing the Core-Tex reactive training device to professional and recreational athletes and patients throughout Canada.

Launched in 2009 by recognized fitness expert and best-selling author Anthony Carey, M.A., CSCS, MES, the Core-Tex combines dynamic strength, cardiovascular endurance, razor sharp reaction, flexibility and balance into one design, creating the optimal training environment. The Core-Tex is specifically designed to provide a multi-dimensional reactive training challenge. Its patented design allows the base to move like no other training environment and it is the only product on the market that simultaneously tilts, slides, and rotates at an unrestricted 360 degrees, allowing for an almost infinite number of movement combinations. The Core-Tex is used in physical therapy clinics, athletic training facilities, hospitals, universities, professional sports teams, private studios, and health clubs worldwide.

The recent handrail and heavy-duty base addition to the original design, along with a new platform for evaluation and coaching tools, have enabled Core-Tex to further grow in the rehabilitation and sports markets. The current model also offers an option to add a second handrail, which is beneficial for the rehabilitation facilities and older populations.

pic5Life Fitness Brings Apple GymKit to Canada

The expansion reinforces the company’s leadership in digital innovation in the global fitness market

Life Fitness, announced that it has partnered with Equinox, a leading high performance lifestyle destination, to launch the first Apple GymKit-enabled health club in Canada. Equinox’s Yorkville location in Toronto is the first club to add the new equipment, with others following later this year.

pic1 David vs Goliath – Surviving 17 Years from Scratch – P24: Hidden Competition

by Gino Arcaro

The competition you can see is only a fraction the total competition you face in the gym industry.

We have two types of competitors that affect our gym – Revealed Competitors and Concealed Competitors. Our gym defines ‘competition’ as organizations or individuals who fight for our customers or influence our customers to spend money elsewhere instead of our gym. We define ‘Revealed Competitors’ as those who are identifiable. They are discernible and readily recognizable. Conversely, ‘Concealed Competitors’ are Hidden Competition who negatively influence customers away from your gym and away from fitness altogether. Hidden competition is not readily identifiable. Hidden Competition is not discernible until it’s revealed to you by customers.

The toughest business challenge is competing with the Hidden Competition because it’s the larger of the two groups of competition, it’s not readily identifiable, and it has a powerful negative psychological effect on your customers that affects customer recruitment and retention without your knowledge.
