Sweat and Tonic (S&T) will open its first location in Downtown Toronto on November 16th. The 16,000+ sq ft space, located on the corner of Yonge and Shuter, will include three floors of world-class boutique group fitness and wellness services.
Three years in the making, Founder David Ingram envisioned the concept in 2016 when he would travel the city to attend his favourite workout classes. Ingram shares, “There was a notable gap in the market. I couldn’t attend high-quality Hot Yoga, Spin and HIIT classes under one roof, let alone socialize, have a bite to eat or plug in to catch up with work in a comfortable lounge. Rather than complain, I decided to build such a place. Named after my favourite drink, Gin and Tonic, the idea grew to be bigger and better than I ever dreamed.”
Some of Toronto’s best instructors gather under one roof, teaching 150+ classes per week in 3 studios with classes specifically designed for maximum sweat levels.
Yoga curated by the Chi Junky Yoga Studio guides you through everything from their signature Sweat Flow™ to Zen Vibes Only: Restorative classes. Signature essential oil massages, killer playlists, and incredible instructors have been developed by Chi Junky Founder Rachelle Wintzen and are sure to turn even the most skeptical into avid yogis.
HIIT by George Chaker delivers high intensity workouts to chisel and tone your entire body. A trifecta of creative intervals keeps classes as fresh as they are challenging with treadmill drills, weight training and boxing.
Ride by S&T leads an unparalleled indoor cycling experience that incorporates the best from both metric and rhythm rides. Custom-designed light shows, sound systems and class programs will immerse minds and bodies into a focused rhythm. You’ll race past your goals and get lost in the beat.
Each studio hosts state of the art sound systems, the latest technology, and Technogym Smart Connected Equipment including Group Cycle Connect Bikes and SkillRun treadmills. “Boutique Fitness Studios are doing an excellent job in responding to the needs of a new generation who is looking for immersive experiences based on individual passions,” said Marco Zambianchi, President of Technogym North America. “At Technogym, we are proud to team up with a leading studio operator like Sweat and Tonic to design a completely new training experience encompassing equipment, rich content, and digital services.”
S&T uses a credit-based system that eliminates the hassle and commitment of a flat-rate monthly club. In addition to classes, premium spa-level services are also available.
S&T sets the pace, bringing together like-minded people who want to challenge their minds and bodies, and creating a community that grows, succeeds and celebrates together. On the ground floor, guests can refuel with healthy snacks and smoothies by Toronto superfood cafe, nutbar, or unwind with a handcrafted cocktail in the same space that once was home to Toronto’s first cocktail bar. The S&T shop features coveted Canadian brands such as S&T cobranded Lululemon apparel and custom-scented Lohn candles. On the lower level, luxurious and all-natural Consonant Skincare bath and body products elevate the locker room experience.
Upstairs, S&T monthly members can enjoy Tonic House, an exclusive lounge space for working and socializing. Also a special event and education space, Tonic House will host seminars and guest speakers, recovery clinics, beauty demonstrations, and more. Tonic House is available for corporate and private bookings, with access to all of S&T’s amenities.
The S&T environment has been designed by Cutler, an award-winning Interior Design and Architecture firm based in Vancouver, and built by Toronto-based GAMA Construction. When developing the design concept, Cutler closely considered the history of the building, the innovative technology and equipment that would be utilized, and Ingram’s vision of bringing the best of fitness and wellness under one roof.
Sweat and Tonic will open its doors on November 16th at 10:00 am at 225 Yonge St. For more information, visit www.sweatandtonic.com.
