Johnson Health Tech (JHT) today named Mr. Nasser Obeid President of JHT- Canada (JHT-CA). A seasoned industry veteran and Canadian citizen with 17 years of experience in fitness sales, marketing, and management, Obeid will oversee all operations of the Montreal-based JHT-CA, including sales, service and operations of both the home-use and commercial businesses.
Prior to his Canadian appointment, Obeid served as the Managing Director for JHT’s UAE subsidiary – a division he opened in 2015 and quickly grew to be among the industry leaders in both commercial and home-use brands. He brought almost 14 years of industry experience to that post, including six years as a Division Manager and more than seven years as the Commercial Manager for Deltatrade AKI, the Life Fitness, SportsArt and PaviGym distributor representing the Middle East region. Obeid holds a degree in Kinesiology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
“We can attribute much of Johnson’s continued growth to having the right leaders in each subsidiary,” said Jason Lo, CEO of Johnson Health Tech Co., Ltd. “With his success in quickly opening an office and growing our brands in the Middle East, Nasser has demonstrated that he has the experience, knowledge and leadership needed to drive similar success in Canada. We’re pleased to send him back home to tackle this challenge and to help JHT reach our aggressive growth goals.”
“We’ve just started to scratch the surface of opportunity in the Canadian market and we’re well positioned for growth here,” stated Obeid. “Our brands are experiencing tremendous momentum in North America because of our industry- leading product portfolios, our innovative customer solutions, and our continued investment in helping our commercial, wholesale and home-use customers reach their goals. I’m honored to help the Canadian team achieve a market-leading position, and my family and I are even more thrilled to return home.”
Obeid replaces Greg Waters, who directed the opening of the JHT-Canada office when JHT acquired STAK Fitness in 2015. Waters will assist with the Canadian transition until April 1, at which time he will assume the role of Vice President of Sales for Global Corporate Wellness, based in Cottage Grove, Wis.
Hany Abu Omar has been named Obeid’s successor as Managing Director of JHT’s office in the Middle East. Omar brings 29 years of proven business experience to his new assignment, including demonstrated success in leading companies including, most notably 11 years as the Division Head of Sports, Fitness and Fashion with Deltatrade AKI, covering UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Yeman; a ten-year stint as Managing Director of Etshtoo, a leading fashion distributor in the Middle East; and eight years as Sales Manager for with Rothenberger in the Gulf region.
